Recently, the 21st China Water Color Remote Sensing Conference hosted by the State Key Laboratory of Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing Information Engineering of Wuhan University and the Ocean Satellite Engineering Branch of China Ocean Engineering Consulting Association was held in Wuhan University. The conference lasted for 3 days, and 360 experts, scholars and young students from 126 scientific research institutions and universities across the country gathered together to focus on the optical characteristics and calibration of water bodies, new sensors and technologies, atmospheric correction of water color remote sensing, water color remote sensing of marine and coastal water bodies, Discussions will be held on 7 topics including water color remote sensing of inland water bodies, underwater terrain remote sensing detection, and double carbon target water color remote sensing. In the high-end forum, experts discussed the future development direction of ocean optics and water color remote sensing, and proposed to further promote China’s water color remote sensing data and product open sharing initiative. The conference specially invited 9 experts to give special reports, respectively from ocean water color satellite, marine bacteria, aerosol atmospheric correction, pattern and change of carbon source and sink in China Sea, carbon sequestration potential and remote sensing of large algae, marine environment lidar technology, lake “carbon “Remote sensing, remote sensing of lake zooplankton, etc., comprehensively discusses the application of water color remote sensing technology in ecological environment protection and natural resource monitoring.
